The Oral Narrative of Haj Hossein Yekta’s Journey to Lebanon – Part Two

That morning, as I put on the Iran Hamdel uniform, my heart was with the children at school. I wished I could build them an amusement park now that their city and playground had been destroyed. I wanted to distract them, even for a few hours, from the toys they had left behind under the rubble of their homes. I drifted into childhood memories and recalled how, during the height of the revolution’s victory—amidst the bloodshed in the streets—someone had offered me a piece of chocolate. But never mind… When we set up the amusement park, took our souvenir photos, and set off for the next destination, I wished that the image these children would carry from these war-torn days would resemble those joyful moments—just like the taste of that chocolate.
