Imam Ali (PBUH) said: “In the matter of wilayah (guardianship), there are only two positions: either you are with us, or you are against us. There is no middle ground. If you are not in Karbala, you are from Kufa. If you are not with Hussein, you will be with Yazid. Do not say that we have nothing to do with either side; we may have nothing to do, but they will have something to do with us. Even on the first night in the grave, they will come to us and ask, ‘Who is your Imam?!’ The story is about wilayah!”
