Imam Reza Devotees’ Mawkib at Column 447: From International Outreach to Serving Husseini Pilgrims

The International Society of Imam Reza (AS) Devotees has conducted extensive social and cultural service activities during Arbaeen seasons in recent years. This grassroots organization has annually served the pilgrims of Aba Abdillah al-Hussein (AS) along the Arbaeen walking route with innovative approaches tailored to contemporary needs.

In 2019, in addition to activities like route cleaning and pilgrim hospitality, the group assumed responsibility for lost and stranded persons in Najaf and Karbala.

During 2022-2023, their primary service focus shifted to the Zero Border Point in Zurbatiya, Iraq – one of the most critical areas along the pilgrimage route. In 2024, their services concentrated on health and sanitation along the Najaf-Karbala route.

For Arbaeen 2025, the Imam Reza Devotees’ Mawkib stationed at Column 447 has provided comprehensive services including hospitality, accommodation, mourning ceremonies, medical services, and repair facilities for Husseini pilgrims. This year’s notable feature is their special emphasis on international outreach.

The Imam Reza devotees initiated their international activities in 2023 and this year have prioritized global social activism by mobilizing social workers from various countries.

The foundation of this year’s international efforts focuses on discourse formation to redefine contemporary global social activism networks – an objective being pursued by connecting culturally and socially concerned individuals from different nations.

Under Haj Hossein Yekta’s leadership, the Imam Reza Devotees Society has played a significant role in shaping socio-international discourse in recent years, continuing this path by connecting and consolidating activists in this discourse at regional and global levels.
