The martyrs taught us: Love means tearing yourself away.

The covenant of love means: If we give our hearts, let it be for God. If we tear our hearts away, let it be for God. The martyrs – they tore their hearts from you (this world) completely.

For martyrdom is not the taking of life but the tearing away of the heart.
